Pack 900 kicked off Pinewood Derby season with our annual Car Cutting Party!
Scouts brought their designs and ideas, and the adults got to work carefully cutting the basic shapes on the bandsaw and other tools. This hands-on workshop helps every Cub Scout start with a solid car blank so they can focus on sanding, painting, decorating, and adding those final creative touches at home.
It’s always fun watching the designs take shape — from sleek racers to wild creative builds — and seeing the Scouts’ excitement as their cars start to look like the real thing. Events like this keep the Derby accessible and help families who may not have power tools at home.
Big thanks to the parents and leaders who ran the saws, offered design advice, and kept everything safe and organized. Now the real fun begins as the cars get finished and ready for race day!
Check them out and start dreaming about those checkered flags!
