Life Scout Benjamin Rankin traveled to Washington, D.C. to complete requirements for the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge.
The trip gave him the chance to stand in the places where our nation’s history and government come to life. One of the photos shows him in front of the Declaration of Independence inscription — a fitting stop for a Scout working on this badge.
Citizenship in the Nation is one of the required Eagle Scout merit badges, and experiences like this help Scouts move beyond the bookwork to a deeper understanding of how our government works and the principles it was founded on.
We’re proud of Benjamin for taking the initiative to make the trip and knock out these requirements. Another solid step on the trail to Eagle.
